Kono district in the Eastern region approximately 245 miles from the capital Freetown has registered its first confirmed positive coronavirus case. According to the National COVID-19 Response Team, the district has recorded three out of total active cases of 15 bringing the national cumulative total cases to 585, as at Thursday 21st May 2020. Western Area Urban and Western Area Rural remains the districts with the highest national figures representing 79.8% whiles Bo district in the South and Kenema district in the East with 24 cases each representing 8.2 percent. Kaiahun district in the East and Bonthe district in the South both with 13 cases each represent 4.4 percent. However, there are 345 persons in isolation centers across the country with a total of 205 national recoveries and 35 deaths. Among the cumulative cases are 282 female and 303 male. Kambia and Karene districts, both in the north are the two districts without any confirmed case of COVID-19. Despite the inter-district lockdown and other restrictions positive cases of coronavirus manage to make their ways to the provinces without government e-approved passes, leaving locals with lots of unanswered questions.
