Ministry of Sport bans all sporting activities

The Ministry of Sports say following the unprecedented high spread rate of the coronavirus (COVID-19) across the world, which has affected almost every country, directly or indirectly, the Ministry will ban all sporting activities. Sierra Leone has reported no confirmed cases of COVID-19 but the government is trying to prevent any spread of the virus. The virus has forced international federations and some national federations to cancel/put on hold sporting events across the world. The Secretary General of the Sierra Leone Swimming Association, Mohamed Turay, said, “The Sierra Leone Swimming Federation welcomes this expected news. It’s a way of preventing the impending danger from spreading from person to person and from place to place.” “We had already stopped all swimming activities from last Saturday 14 March 2020.”
