One of Sierra Leone’s elite female athletes, Fatmata Awolo Sesay, has said that her dream is to be the fastest 100m and 200m sprinter of Sierra Leone. She said she is very happy having represented Sierra Leone in so many games, and bringing home laurels for her efforts. Sesay said coming from a poor background in Kambia, where she was scouted by Sierra Leone Athletics Association (SLAA) coaches and brought to the city to pursue her dreams, she uses her training allowance to support her family.
Life under coronavirus was difficult until SLAA President Abdul Karim Sesay came to their rescue with rice and cash support for athletes, she said praising God. Meanwhile, Sesay revealed facing discrimination because of her physical structure.
