Alleged armed robbers sent to prison to await adjourn date

Emmanuel Babatunde Decker, Lamin Kamara, and others were sent to the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown to await trials in Magistrate Court on allegations of robbery with aggravation. The accused were arraigned before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at the Freetown Magistrate Court No. 4 on Pademba Road in Freetown, on Tuesday 26th November 2019. Police alleged on 31st October 2019, the accused were armed with machetes, broke into Reuben Silvanus Shyllon’s house, a retired police officer, in Hamilton, and made away with property worth over Le57 million. According to the witness and victim, Reuben Silvanus Shyllon, he recalled hearing a banging on his front door around 2:00 a.m. A few seconds later, he heard his children talking but thought they were praying. A few minutes later, he saw one of the accused peeping at his door. Shyllon further explained that he immediately rushed to the parlor, where he met the accused. Shilon revealed the accused were carrying machetes and ordered him to remain quiet or he would be killed. He said he recognized the thieves. He added that while he was under threat, some of the alleged robbers were looting his property, during which, the first and second accused persons also made an attempt to join them in looting, and it was during that process that he was able to escape and shout for help.
