Alleged human trafficker sent on remand

Sheku Fornah was sent on remand at the Male Correctional Center on Pademba Road in Freetown, after he was arraigned before Magistrate Hannah Bonnie at the Freetown Magistrate Court No. 1 on Pademba Road in Freetown, on allegations of human trafficking. It was alleged that Fornah collected Le9 million from Balu Kargbo, on the promise of sending her to Pakistan. Fornah demanded Le9 million for the entire process knowing the same to be false. In her testimony in court, Kargbo said, Fornah came to her sometime ago with a travel opportunity to Pakistan. Kargbo expressed interest and agreed to pay Le5 million. Fornah later asked for a million Leones for Kargbo’s travelling passport. Kargbo also collected the sum of Le300, 000 for medical, after an initial sum of $100 for visa and travelling ticket. Kargbo revealed that Fornah handed her to another man named Nicol, who received her in Guinea where he was going to use as a transit point to Pakistan. Kargbo said, she spent almost two months in Guinea before she could travel to her expected destination. She said she had to work in Guinea and was exposed to hard labour. She decided to return to Sierra Leone but didn’t have enough money. Kargbo disclosed that it was her elder sister who had helped her with some money. When she arrived, she informed the Police.
