The Minister of Labor, Alpha Osman Timbo and three other high officials in the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary School Education have been relieved from their offices on alleged corruption related offenses. The press release from State House, issued on Friday 10th January 2020, indicated that Alpha Timbo who served as Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary School Education, (MBSSSE) Emily Kadiatu Gogra as Deputy Minister, Charles Kamanda, Permanent Secretary and Mamusu Massaquoi, Director of Nutrition will be investigated by the Anti Corruption Commission. All four are being investigated over a huge quantity of rice donated to the Government of Sierra Leone by the Government of the Peoples Republic of China as support towards the free quality education. The Anti corruption commission is yet to make a statement on the said matter.
