Convicted robber to be released in January

The High Court in Freetown has ordered that Mukeh Vandy, a convicted robber, be released from prison in January 2020. The order came out on Thursday 14th November 2019, after Vandy’s defense counsel Mamakoh Kallon, informed the court that the defense intended to take another line of action. Vandy changed his plea from ‘not guilty’ to ‘guilty’. The allegation against him was that on 13th May 2016, Vandy robbed Bassie Jalloh of a mobile phone, headset and other items valued at Le1,186,000. In addition the convict inflicted wounds on Jalloh. After pleading guilty to the offense, Vandy asked for mercy. His defense counsel also said she can vouch for his safe conduct. The Judge ordered that the convict be released on 15th January 2020.
