Sierra Leone Sports: Former deputy Sports Director appointed Sec. Gen. of AUTSG

The former Deputy Director of Sports, Chief Michael Shamsu Mustapha has been endorsed as Secretary General for the African Union for Traditional Sports and Games (AUTSG). The union is recognized and supported by UNESCO. The union secretariat will be in Sierra Leone and this will be the first time that a continental sports federation will have its headquarters in Sierra Leone. The president for the union is Kabassan Keita- Director of Sports Guinea, Victor Amara from Sierra Leone as Organizing Secretary for the Union. The entire executive committee is made up of 7 nationalities. Mustapha said the main aim of the Union is to identify different forms of traditional sports and games in African countries to preserve them as they form part of our heritage and culture. He said the secretariat is in charge of the organization and sanctioning of traditional sport events in Africa, and they are entering Africa for the 1st World traditional sports and games event in Kazakhstan 2021
