According to the Lead State Counsel in Commission 65 at the Commission of Inquiry Robert Kowa, former President Ernest Bai Koroma earned money including properties in excess of Le101 billion (Le 101,972,228,683.53) whilst he served as president from November 2007 to April 2019. Kowa made this disclosure whilst he was submitting his finally written address on the investigation in to the assets of former president Koroma before Justice Bankole Thompson of the Commission of Inquiry on Tuesday 14th January 2020. According to Counsel Robert Kowa, the legitimate earning of the former president was Le 3.9 billion (Le 3,929,771,316) including his salary and other emoluments plus 12,600 pounds sterling in his foreign account. Kowa said after the former president took up office in 2007, he declared his assets to the Anti Corruption Commission in August 2008. According to his declaration form, he had cash at hand of Le5 million, cash at Sierra Leone Commercial Bank of Le 8.7 million, cash at Ecobank of Le54,509,000 million and a foreign account of 12,600 pounds. He said also the former president declared his house at Femi Turner Drive, hotel under construction in Makeni, farm land at mbinti, property at Bahoma Goderich and Rubureh in Makeni, adding that all of the above properties were acquired between 1990 – 2005.
