The Freetown Teachers College (FTC) launched their secondary school project at their College campus. According to the Principal of the College, Samba Moriba, the aim of the project is to contribute to education development in the country. He said the college has trained a wide range of teachers in Sierra Leone and such a project will help to improve the quality of learning in the country, by upgrading to a secondary school, as FTC already has a primary school. He said due to the hard work of the out going Head Teacher of the school, Kathleen Charles- Senessie, they have decided to name the secondary school after her. The Chair of the Western Area Rural District Council, Kasho Holland-Cole said education is the most important weapon to fight poverty. The Founder of Ahmed Tejan Kabba Foundation, Isatu Kabba, said one of the aims of the foundation is to support education, noting that it creates opportunities for wide range of people. Kathleen Charles was overwhelmed for such an honour to name the secondary school after her. She thanked the authorities for such an honour and encouraged the gathering to invest in education.
