The Management of Mercury International Lottery and Betting Company in Sierra Leone on Friday presented a Le75m cheque to the executive of the Sierra Leone Cricket Association (SLCA). The presentation was done at the company’s headquarter at Krootown Road in Freetown by Joseph Herb the Company’s Operation Manager. In his statement, he said it has pleased the company to donate the above amount to the Cricket Association as their own help for the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) tour in Sierra Leone. He said that his wish for the association is a successful tournament and a happy stay for the visitors. Receiving the cheque on behalf of the association, the Chairman of the Cricket Board Beresford Bournes-Coker thanked the company for their timely intervention. He said hosting the No1 cricket club in the world – MCC – their target was to prepare three cricket ovals. Among the three he said one is the home of cricket in Sierra Leone, the Kingtom Ovals and the POW School Ovals at Kingtom. The Chairman said in May this year they met President Bio at the State House and informed him about the MCC Tour and the senior male ICC Regional World Cup qualifying tournament.
