Sierra Leone News: Constituency 119 to get more WATSAN Facilities

To further improve on health and sanitation, as part of its corporate responsibility as well as meeting the regulations of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), recommended by EPA, Petro Jetty in its Phase 2 has agreed in consultation with the constituency development committee, to further support WATSAN improvement, will fund the construction of 3 more community toilets and two hand pump water facility in constituency 119. Recently 3 toilets and wash rooms with water tanks in ward 415, is now completed, and in use. From several meetings with the local authorities and members of the Constituency Development Committee, including feasibility carried out by Petro Jetty, the toilet project is as a result of lack of or inadequate facility in the beneficiary communities, especially around the area leading down to the terminal Installation. The constituency development committee already put forward a proposal to the, management of Petro Jetty Limited, to help cushion the challenge of open defecation in these communities, to reduce incidence of water borne diseases.
