On Thursday 3rd October 2019, the British High Commissioner to Sierra Leone, Simon Mustard disclosed that Sierra Leone is receiving one hundred and fifty million (€150,000,000) pounds sterling through aid every year. The newly appointed British High Commissioner made this statement while speaking to journalists at his office, at the British High Commission, Freetown. He said the aforementioned money is directed to education, health and good governance. He added that the Brexit deal is making things very difficult in Britain- “but that would not cut down the Aid the British government is giving to Sierra Leone.” Simon also stated that the British going out of the European Union (EU) would not affect the Aid that is coming from the EU to Sierra Leone in any way. He admired the strides Sierra Leone has made in lots of areas, including but not limited to the security sector, and that he will be focusing on how to give more support to improve the security sector in the country.
