The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) in collaboration with the National Sports Authority (NSA) has launched two key additional projects – the installation of floodlights and a perimeter fence – to raise the standard of the Kenema City Field. The launch was held at a press conference at the Albertson Multi-purpose Conference Hall in Kenema on Thursday 9th July 2020.
The press conference, held primarily for the purpose of clarifying widespread and misleading information on the termination of the FIFA/SLFA Artificial Turf Project in Kenema City, was an opportunity for the FA to make this official disclosure public. Speaking, SLFA president Isha Johansen congratulated the people of Kenema and urged them to embrace the project with pride and ownership, adding, “What we (SLFA) do, we do for all and not for one. The success of this project is the success for Sierra Leone and Sierra Leoneans”.
In his keynote address, NSA Executive Director Dr. Kenneth Brima applauded the SLFA leadership for their relentless efforts on the development of football, making particular reference to efforts made so far in transforming the Kenema City Field to a standard playing ground.
