Last week, the Secretary of Kroo Bay’s Community Disaster Management Committee Mohamed Koroma alleged that the two community members who died on 2nd August were wrongly said to have died due to the flooding that occurred that day. Sinneh Kamara, Coroner Technician at the Connaught Hospital Mortuary, disputed this allegation and said that the two died of drowning. Koroma said that the reports given on 2nd August had been incorrect, and that the two residents died of epilepsy and old age. Initially, Sinneh Kamara disclosed that there were two victims who had died in Kroo Bay as a result of flooding, but did not disclose their clinical cause of death. On Tuesday 10th September Kamara delivered a confirmation from the pathologist at Connaught Hospital Mortuary that the two Kroo Bay Community residents who died on 2nd August, Osman Kamara, age 23, and Kolleh Kamara, age 60, died of “wet drowning.” Though the deceased share a last name, they were not relatives.
