Witness says children were beaten up by thugs

Gbangay Kanu, staff from the Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender and Children’s Affairs (MSWGCA) has on Thursday 12th September, 2019 testified that he saw thugs mercilessly beating children within the precincts of the Ministry. Led in evidence by State Counsel Robert B. Kowa, the witness recalled that on the 28th December, 2016 he saw a grey land cruiser Toyota jeep with registered initials ‘SEA’ but couldn’t remember the number, with some grown up men, badly dressed, some putting on mufflers and others had masks on them (whom he described as thugs) disembarking from the jeep. The men he said instantly deployed themselves in strategic locations within the precincts of the ministry. “I was wondering what was there intention, within that interval I saw one of the men who had deployed between Ministry of Works and the New England lorry park holding on to a girl child and asking her in krio “wetin yu kam do na ya so, den nor don tell yu say yu nor for kam na ya” as this question was asked it followed slapping, kicking and roughing her up” he said.
